Despite everything it does right, one of the most off putting aspects of Call of Duty: Warzone is the rampant, ongoing battle against cheaters, particularly on PC. The inclusion of cross play was a welcome one, particularly between console platforms, but it also unfortunately amplifies the issue of actual helmets actively trying to ruin the experience for everyone else.

Thankfully, Call of Duty: Vanguard appears to be stepping things up a notch, with confirmation from the currently running (and soon to be opened up) multiplayer Beta that players who have been hardware banned in Warzone are also unable to access the new title, even though technically it’s a brand new game.

I’m all in favour of this. Actions have consequences, and if you choose to deliberately make it so other players have a miserable time online just so you can rank up faster or gain a competitive edge, there should be a permanent penalty. It’s great to see Activision taking this issue seriously.
