REACTION - Cyberpunk 2077 is pulling a No Man’s Sky

Hello Games!

We were fierce critics of Cyberpunk 2077 at launch. The console versions were fundamentally broken, and should quite frankly have never seen the light of day at that time. It was so clearly not ready for public consumption, and the dreadful last gen optimisation effort sullied the narrative of what should have been a barn burner.

Fast forward to 2023, and the upcoming Update 2.0 which coincides with the Phantom Liberty expansion has actually piqued my interest. The changes to police and combat, the promise of more reactive A.I, and overhaul of the perks and upgrades systems gives me a shred of hope that maybe CD Projekt Red can reshape the narrative and earn back some long sought after good will.

Proof is in the pudding, but their helpful infographic which provides a clear breakdown of exactly what is included in the free patch and the paid DLC was enough for me to raise a Vulcan eyebrow.

TARPS?

At the bottom of some of our articles, you’ll see a series of absurd looking images (with equally stupid, in joke laden names). These are the TARP badges, which represent our ‘Totally Accurate Rating Platform’. They allow us to identify specific things, recognise positive or negative aspects of a games design, and generally indulge our consistent silliness with some visual tomfoolery.
