REACTION - IO Interactive’s Plans For Hitman 3 In 2022 Is A Strong Show Of Faith
One of the biggest surprises of last / current gen is the evolution of the rebooted Hitman titles. Although the episodic model gave way in favour of full fat single releases, the positive sentiment from players, strong critical reception, and stellar DLC support has secured an enviable legacy for this broad, and in places extremely silly, puzzle sandbox.
Moving forward, IO Interactive have pledged “new maps, new storylines, new modes and new ways to play” for Hitman 3, which is quite an escalation in their approach, since the first year has seen more remixed locations with new looks and objectives. This has been enjoyable, particularly the “Seven Deadly Sins”, but it still felt like a first step.
The promise of brand new maps is very enticing, and a clear signal of intent from IO that they are willing to continue throwing their weight behind the series. I look forward to slapping people with salmon, stealing their clothes, and pretending to be an inconspicuous bald man for many months to come.
