Now that Forbidden West is definitely getting an expansion in the form of Burning Shores in April 2023, the already announced PSVR2 spin off, and rumblings of a co-op / multiplayer version of Horizon also on the brew, it’s certainly a good time to be a fan of one of PlayStation’s flagship series.

Jokes about historically poor release timing aside (Breath of the Wild and Elden Ring both coincided with the two previous mainline titles), it’s encouraging to have some concept of what lies ahead for PS5. Outside of the usual “insider scoops”, we don’t really know what’s cooking now that God of War: Ragnarok has dropped.

Both Xbox and PlayStation could really do with some kind of online event to lay out the next 12-18 months. In lieu of that, at least we know that titles like Horizon will continue be mined for new ideas, and in terms of this specific IP, there’s reasons to be excited.
