REACTION - The lack of Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Sifu in wider Game Awards categories is surprising

Half snub.

As with every Game Awards nomination reveal, there will inevitably be titles which, at first glance, seem like an obvious choice for a nod. The reality is that many well received examples (both critically and commercially) often don’t get the recognition they expect or deserve. Of course, the entire thing is entirely subjective, and your mileage for each title will vary.

Case in point: Kirby and the Forgotten Land. It’s a wonderful game, with the biggest reach of any Kirby title in the franchise to date. But it has been relegated somewhat to the “Family” category. In much the same way that Sifu also appears to have been isolated from some of the “bigger” nominations.

As one would expect, you’re never going to please everyone. But these stuck out as being particularly egregious omissions.
