REACTION - Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is the right way to go if the Remake is still wonky

Reimaging the sands.

Now that’s how you open a show. Geoff Keighley always manages to sneak in an unexpected nug to his various live showcases, and Summer Game Fest was no exception. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is exactly what this franchise needed; a swerve to a new perspective, with a crisp (and Switch / last gen friendly) art style and pacier action. This is exactly what Ubi should be doing to regain some good will.

The Sands of Time Remake is still cooking, and possibly being soft rebooted after a less than enthusiastic response to its initial reveal. The Lost Crown is set up as a nice stepping stone to a fully fledged return for one of my personal favs. However, it’s not immediately clear if we’re working with a “Prince of Persia” Nolan North led re-imagining, or if this ties into established continuity.

In any case, we won’t have long to wait. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is due out on all of the things in January 2024.
