Normally, one would consider excessive queues or regular downtime as a sign of a bungled launch. But Splitgate’s rebirth has been both exponential and fascinating, especially given that it’s technically still in Beta. With servers regularly reaching capacity, developer 1047 Games have a “good problem” on their hands.

Their tenacity is impressive, given that the early access PC version launched in 2019 and had been serving a dedicated, but dwindling player base. Then the console versions dropped, with the smart addition cross play, and here we are, sometimes needing 45 minutes to an hour before being let in! Madness!

With over 100,000 concurrent players and growing, arena shooters are back, baby!

TARPS?

At the bottom of some of our articles, you’ll see a series of absurd looking images (with equally stupid, in joke laden names). These are the TARP badges, which represent our ‘Totally Accurate Rating Platform’. They allow us to identify specific things, recognise positive or negative aspects of a games design, and generally indulge our consistent silliness with some visual tomfoolery.
