REACTION - Dying Light 2’s Day One Patch Makes The Case For Minor Delays

Letting it simmer.

The year long bump to Halo Infinite did that end product a world of favours; even though there’s an argument to be made that it could have been pushed further out to so that co-op could make the cut for launch, it was still the right call. Dying Light 2 has seen a similar journey to release, with a well timed delay leading to a better end product.

That being said, the gargantuan number of fixes packed in to the recently announced day 1 patch has got me wondering whether this should have been given a few extra weeks to cook. Even if DL2 ended up being a March release instead, the version that many outlets have reviewed doesn’t incorporate these launch tweaks.

The comments around bugs and progression issues would seem to support this idea that maybe Techland could have done with implementing these changes before going gold. Even though there was most likely a business implication behind their choice of release timing, it’s nonetheless food for thought.
