REACTION - Insignia’s forthcoming reboot of the original Xbox Live gives us a hankering for Midtown Madness 3

A jolly revisit.

Insignia’s resurrection of the first version of Xbox Live has been on our radar for a while, and now that they’re accepting requests to join, it’s a good time to take stock of their launch lineup of supported titles. Even though more are promised (fingers crossed for any of the Rainbow Six games), there’s a couple that have really caught our eye.

First up, Midtown Madness 3. A criminally underrated gem that absolutely stands alongside Project Gotham Racing from Microsoft’s golden era (sorry Forza). Conker Live and Reloaded’s multiplayer was batshit, but still charming despite the chaos. I also have a particular soft spot for the original XIII; not the borked remake that is now being remade, but that deliciously weird original.

This whole thing has made me very nostalgic for that era of gaming, and despite the convoluted enrollment / set up process, the fact that Insignia even exists is an actual miracle.
