REACTION - Xbox’s Console Purchase Pilot Is A Great “Screw You” To Scalpers

It has been super tricky to get hold of new console hardware, with a one two punch of the global pandemic and unprecedented demand leading to component shortages, shipping delays, and unfortunately, feverish scalping. These morons, who use bots and other back door shady deals to secure large quantities of sought after gear, have been rinsing people with inflated prices for months.

Thankfully, Microsoft are taking a meaningful step towards combating the shitty ways of the scalper, with a new Xbox Insider programme that gives users the chance to reserve a Series X / S (so long as they’re doing this via an Xbox One). Although it’s only available for a small handful of Insider sign ups, and not everyone is guaranteed to secure one, it’s a positive move in the right direction to solve a difficult issue.

Going in to the back half of 2021, one would hope that stock will start to become more readily available. In the meantime, scalpers can do one.
