Rumbleverse was an unassuming and fairly derivative looking battle royale, that in reality turned out to be an unexpected hit. Whether it’s the unintentional slapstick comedy, snappy combat, or consistently inventive approach to established genre tropes, this strange little game is probably the biggest surprise of the year for us.

Our review was equally positive, and the more we’ve played since launch, the more we felt it deserved a nod. A lot of the issues we mentioned, like server disconnects and longer matchmaking times, have been largely ironed out. The Season 2 update brought with it a whole mess of new moves and items (gotta love that aggressive sandal pick up), and there’s now a better sense that it’s all going somewhere.

As always, consistency of post launch support and an engaged community are the keys to longer term success for a title like this, especially in a crowded market. But there can be no denying the jolly vibes.
