REACTION - Cliffhanger Games is making a Black Panther title and the hype is real

This is extremely optimistic, but the concept of EA doubling down on a new studio and letting them build a story driven single player action adventure is exactly the kind of sensible, non-live service move that gives me hope that they’ve actually been paying attention. The Dead Space remake, the Jedi titles, even Mass Effect and Dragon Age getting another shot; it’s all indicative of an EA that maybe, just maybe, is starting to learn from its mistakes.
Of course it’s impossible to make any kind of judgement call at this formative stage. Cliffhanger Games is a brand new studio, comprised of various veteran devs, but this new Black Panther IP is likely still in early pre-production. I wouldn’t be surprised if this ends up being a cross gen / next title that’s still years away. If Perfect Dark has taught me anything, it’s that announcement to release timing is impossible to predict.
Marvel Games are cooking up some sauce with this one. We’ve also got Spiderman 2 and Wolverine from Insomniac, EA Motive’s Iron Man game, various ongoing mobile titles, and now this. It’s a tasty time to be a Marvel fan.
